in just their second time ever in the top division, Asteras of Tripolis in central Peloponnese have a long history that started in the 1930s. Asteras was the first club from Tripolis to play in B' Ethniki in 1961, before merging with local clubs Aris and Atromitos in 1963.

Named "Omilos" after the merger it led a short life until 1968 when it was disbanded. However in 1978 it was set up once again as Asteras and started its long route all the way to the Super League. Asteras actually climbed three divisions from 2004 to 2007.

In their first year in the Super League last season they finished seventh.
