Athanasia PerraAthanasia Perra had a world-class effort at triple-jump to win the event at the Mediterranean Games on Thursday.

The athlete who has been for most of her career in the shadow of Olympian Piyi Devetzi, reached 14.62 metres in Pescara for a new personal record and the second best performance in the world this year.

Greece won one more gold in athletics courtesy of Sava Lika who won the javelin with 60.97 m. in her last effort.

In hammer throw Alexandros Papadimitriou finished third to win the bronze medal with an effort at 73.69 m.

Two more medals came from Greek women as the 4x100 relay team consisting of Maria Gatou, Agni Derveni, Andriana Ferra and Georgia Kokloni finished third, while Eleni Filandra clocked a new personal best at 800 metres (2.01.13) to earn a bronze.

Gymnastics gave two medals to Greece on Wednesday as Lefteris Cosmidis won the floor exercise and Evgenia Zafiraki was third in the vault.

Finally, in judo Dimokritos Manousaridis won a bronze medal in the -60 kilogram category.
