Saturday, March 28, 2009 : Champions lift fourth successive title
Greek Rugby FederationAthens completed their fourth successive Greek club championship with a 22-18 win over Attica Springboks at Glyka Nera on Saturday.

In a tight game both sides played attractive, expansive rugby, sharing seven tries between them.

Athens edged the first half, taking a 10-8 lead following tries from right wing Giorgos Synetos and makeshift centre Filippos Sotiriadis.

Attica's points came from prop Nathaniel Courcelle who posted a try and a penalty.

Synetos and Sotiriadis both scored again early in the second half to open up a 22-8 lead for Athens.

Attica came back strongly in the last 20 minutes with tries from outside centre Jineuk Yi and fly half Alexandros Gounaris but Athens held on to lift the trophy once again.
