Olympiakos centre Sofoklis Schortsanitis has thanked the club for supporting him after he made his comeback following 10 months out due to weight problems.
Big Sofo, as he is known, played for Olympiakos for the first time this season in their 84-52 win over AEL Larissa on Wednesday night.
The centre scored 11 points in the game.
"I was really anticipating being back on the court and being involved in something I like doing more than anything else," he said in a statement on his personal website.
Schortsanitis thanked the fans, the club's owners, coach Panayiotis Yiannakis and his technical team for supporting him through a turbulent period that has seen the talented Greek international in danger of frittering his career away.
"I think that with the help that coach Yiannakis and his team are giving me every day, I will be able to give my best so the team can achieve its goals. Once again, thank you."
The player is reported to have lost some 30 kilos during the past few weeks but still weighs in at around 160 kilos.
